To face the future, we need a new kind of democratic resilience and preparedness – rooted in democratic values, belonging, and strong local communities. Through Nordic Safe Cities, city leaders and practitioners from across the Nordic region come together to demonstrate how cities can become powerhouses of resilient democracies. The focus is on practical solutions and collaborations that build trust, prevent segregation, and strengthen safety, community, democratic culture, and digital resilience – ensuring that free, open, and inclusive societies can continue to thrive even in times of uncertainty.

Please join us on this online session to hear the presenters Jeppe Albers, Founder and Executive Director of Nordic Safe Cities and partners from Finland (TBC). The presentations focus on promising and inspirational practices on how to work on local level with themes such as democracy for all, empowering youth to shape democracy, safeguarding digital democracy and democratic resilience and preparedness.

The session will be opened by Niklas Wilhelmsson, Head of Unit, Ministry of Justice and it will include a commentary from Tarja Mankkinen, Head of Development, Ministry of the Interior.

This session is open to anyone in the network who is interested in the themes mentioned above, for example representatives of cities, municipalities and wellbeing services counties, as well as CSOs and researchers.
